    3. Creating our own pitch for a tv series
    4. Would of been nice to have the visit spread over two days, but I still feel the tasks gave a good indication of things to think about when teaching media
    5. Ultimately some more time

  2. 1. Today has been wonderful! I have learnt that that media lessons take a lot of planning. Due to the constant change and flux that is new media it is near impossible to think that one would be able to teach the same lesson twice.
The difference between what I know about media and what the student will know about the media through our relevant interactions will affect how we teach and how the students learn. It is important to remain adaptable.

    2. I hoped that the course would introduce me to a range of new technologies that would be available for me to use in the future as a teacher....The media bus was a perfect example of this.

    3. The media bus was rather cool! I enjoyed discussing and pitching our own Television Show - It was a wonderful opportunity to be creative and something that I will use in a future lesson (hopefully).

    4. It was structured fairly well. The lesson was appropriately paced and the tasks were well designed. The media bus was perhaps a little bit disjointed.

5.I would have liked to have observed a lesson from Tim Holloway as I felt he was a very approachable and knowledgeable individual and would have liked to have seen his classroom manner with a class.
Furthermore, I would have enjoyed the opportunity to fully utilise the capabilities of the media bus as we were quite limited for time during the final session after lunch.

  3. I really enjoyed today, particularly the different fractions of drama and the idea of precinct and precedural.
It has certainly given me some thoughts for lessons and appropriate tasks.

I expected that i would have more guidance in using the camera and computer equipment as these are areas i lack confidence in. I realise that time effected this, but whilst i enjoyed the practical, i don't feel that i have gained anything new in terms of technical skill or knowledge which is a shame.

I would also have liked like more clarity on what was expected of each task - leaving the instructions on the board would have helped us stay on task and benefited our time management.

Talking to Tim was really interesting, his industry knowledge was useful and appropriate for the content of the day.

I would give the day 4/5

    1. Consolidating knowledge of institutions. Learnt about the hierarchy of TV Drama Production. Gave us ideas to teach in our schools.
    2. Expected to learn more about TV Drama which has been addressed. I did expect to focus more on my production skills- we haven't spent as much time as we would have liked.
    3. Enjoyed planning and pitching the TV Drama including the blogging of it. We enjoyed the inside knowledge Tim gave us. We would have liked more time spent on the practical production side- more time spent on the Media Bus.
    4. It was structured well. Before lunch was structured slightly better than a the afternoon- perhaps a bit disorganised?
    5. More training on iMovie and/or programmes we would have to use in the classroom.

  5. What have you learned from today's sessions? I gained a greater knowledge of TV Drama such as the formats and the various key roles involved the production process.

What did you expect to get from the course? I thought that we would go over the basis of TV Drama production.

What do enjoy most and least? Most: The task in which we had to create a pitch and synopsis for a TV drama show.

Least: I do not think that there was enough to fully understand how to use the cameras. If we were able to dedicate two solid hours to the last part of the workshop that would have been more effective.

How did you think the day was structured? I think the day was structured fairly well. This was largely because of the ordering of the activities for example discussing TV dramas followed by devising a synopsis. However, the organisation of the last part of the workshop did not work as well as the beginning. This is largely because the cameras and recoding equipment was not set up before we came to the media bus.

What else would you have liked from today's course? I would have liked to develop my practical expertise and discuss more how this related to teaching in the classroom. I think that more discussion regarding the possible tasks and application of TV dramas in the classroom could have been beneficial.
