Jimmy McGovern will script this brand new contemporary subverted crime drama set on the streets of Birmingham. The series will play with the genre of 'crime' as the audiences own moral ideologies are tested in an unconventional way.
Criminal Access (W/T) will be a 6 part, 1 hour episode, procedural series for More 4. The audience would be expected to be between the ages of 20-45. The protagonists are unexpected anti-heros, the criminals; the audience will be immersed in the life of the lead character over the period of one week as they follow them challenging the law. It is set in Birmingham with the same police team followed as secondary characters throughout the series. Some criminals they catch, some they don't but the same criminals could feature in later episodes where loose ends can be tied. It will be edgy, British, hard-hitting and sometimes violent and will have a 'Lock-Stock' feel.

www Structured and well planned synopsis, gives a real sense of genre and style (sighting Lock Stock.)
ReplyDeleteebi is the anti-hero genre really unexpected and subverted? is it not a genre in its own right. film-goodfellas, tv- the wire and the shield. could be great but very much a genre piece.
What went well...good angle for a procedural series. Plenty of detail and subversive. Challenging moral issues - identifying with criminals.
ReplyDeleteEven better if...it was based on a true story i.e Boardwalk Empire. Production costs?? Similar to Red-Riding.
