A meditated view on the struggles of industry workers and the exploitation of women in the workplace.
Synopsis
A comedy about 4 women working on an intergalactic spaceship and the endless struggles between alien and human cleaners.
There is a drastic gap in pay between the human and alien cleaners working on the spaceship. The humans find out and immediately contact their union - JSU (Janitors Space Union).
The rep, Dave (also an alien), explains to them that there is an alien tax break for distance travelled to work.....They have to travel from mars!
Angry because of this, they thrown in their mop-sabres and demand more pay.
Josefina, Jaunita, Pedro (transgender) and Chiqitita - Go on strike.
An intergalactic war breaks out between the two beings and the alien cleaners are deported.
Emma, Valentina, Sonia, Shaun...

Like the fact it is very current, equal pay for women etc...made in dagenham.
ReplyDeleteA good idea for a precinct show but seems strange you mention the cleaners being deported, what type of show would it be after the pilot?
WWW - Clear pitch, deals with current issues in an appropriately humorous way. Appropriately hybrid, playing with conventions of sci-fi, politics and comedy. Good representation of minority groups.
ReplyDeleteEBI (Questions for consideration - QfC) - In reality would a male sci-fi audience watch a series about female issues? Is there a big enough female target audience for sci-fi as a genre? Too niche for Channel 4? Would it be more suited to a digital audience?
